Efektivitas Teknik Cognitive Disputation dalam Mereduksi Perilaku Bullying Verbal pada Siswa SMP

This study was motivated by the high prevalence of verbal bullying among students at SMP Negeri 2 Sungguminasa, which negatively affects their emotional well-being and social interactions. The study aims to describe students’ levels of verbal bullying, examine the implementation of the cognitive disputation technique, and analyze its effectiveness in reducing verbal bullying. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group. The sample consisted of 20 students assigned to experimental and control groups. Data were collected through a verbal bullying scale and observations, and analyzed using an independent sample t-test. The findings indicate that the experimental group experienced a significant reduction in verbal bullying following the intervention, whereas the control group showed no meaningful change. The cognitive disputation technique proved effective in decreasing verbal bullying and is recommended as a counseling intervention in school settings.
