Application of Assertive Training Techniques to Increase the Assertiveness of Students Victims of Bullying at Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Makassar City

Abstract

This research focuses on the implementation of Assertive Training Techniques to enhance the assertiveness of students who are victims of bullying at Madrasah Tsanawiyah 1 Kota Makassar. The research problems encompass the description of assertive behavior among students who are victims of bullying, the implementation process of Assertive Training Techniques, and the impact of its application on student assertiveness. The research aims to understand the level of assertive behavior among students, provide an overview of the implementation process of the technique, and assess the improvement in assertiveness following its application. The study adopts a quantitative approach with a Quasi-Experimental design. Data collection involves the use of an assertiveness scale, and data analysis includes descriptive and inferential statistical analysis using SPSS v.25. The results indicate that the assertiveness of students who are victims of bullying in the experimental group increased from a low category (pretest) to a high category (posttest). In contrast, assertiveness in the control group remained low. The implementation of Assertive Training Techniques involved seven sessions with steps such as needs analysis for training, inclusion of informational materials, practice in building self-esteem, practice in refusal, completion of homework assignments, discussion of homework results, and termination.
