Application of the Singing Method in Improving Mastery of Arabic Mufrodat for Junior High School Students at Makassar Islamic College

Abstract

This study aims to elucidate student activities, teacher management, and student learning improvement in mastering Arabic vocabulary using the singing method. This research is a type of classroom action research with a subject consisting of 10 eighth-grade students at Islamic School Perguruan Islam Makassar. Data collection techniques employed in this research include observation and tests. The study was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle comprising two sessions. The results of the research indicate that the average score of students' mastery of vocabulary in Arabic in Cycle I was 77.2, and in Cycle II, it increased to 87.6. This shows an improvement in students' mastery of Arabic vocabulary by 10.4. From these findings, it can be concluded that the singing method can be applied in teaching Arabic vocabulary at Islamic School Perguruan Islam Makassar. This method provides an enjoyable and interactive learning experience for students, facilitating better understanding and retention of vocabulary. The study demonstrates that the singing method can be an effective alternative in teaching Arabic vocabulary in various educational contexts.
